Is it just me or do the gen iv controls for the unit seem pricey? I also wonder why the gen iV kits with 4 knobs are cheaper. Any reason why you couldn't use the 4 knob setup?
I'm probably being a tightarse but I thought I'd put it out there.

the GEN IV units are controlled by an ecm and require only three knobs, you get infinitely variable fan speed and temperature and mode control with this setup.
The GEN II units (mini, compac, super) use four knobs with set positions for fan speed (high, med, low) and mode and then a separate knob to control the heater valve and one to control the compressor cycle time.
There are no GEN !V kits with four knobs.
