      Wilwood Truck kits? New

      Hello to all,
If you are like many on this forum building a Pro-Touring type car then there is a pretty good chance you own a truck or SUV. Finally, Wilwood has introduced the following 3 kits that will fit many of the vehciles on todays roads. Sure it would be great to sell one of these and you can call me for pricing but more over just good information for anyone not happy with the way their Truck/SUV is stopping.

Note: These kit's utilize a new caliper and do not consist of any of the Previous caliper part#'s you have seen before. This caliper is a monster!

You know, I REALLY wished someone would do a damn front brake kit for the Dodge Dakota. I have a '02 Quad Cab and like most people who have Dakota's the brakes suck!!!! They are much too small for the weight and it is very common for people to warp rotors in less then 15,000 mile unless you are very easy on the brakes. Currently the only options is stock size rotor (drilled, slotted or both), upgraded pads or SS lines. None of these options really deals with the main problem of too little brake on too much vehicle.

Someone bring these out!!! Baer said they have nothing in the works, which sucks.

Funny you shoul ask. We are actually building one for another customer as we speak. Pricing and detail are as folllows for the kit you are asking for. Price seems high but if you want it we got it!!

Precision Brakes Company kit- 2002 Dodge Dakota 2wd- 355x32mm Cross-Drilled and Slotted rotors, 6 piston GNIII calipers, with E-Compound Pads, Stainless Steel Braided Brake lines, Bearings, Seals, Custom Brackets, Hardware, Instrux (Price includes labor to custom build custom hubs).

Because of the Custom hubs and 14" rotors with 6 piston calipers the price is more than the average kit. But it is available

How much will the 140-8992 kits go for? Did I read correctly, 16 inch Rotors!! What is the smallest diameter wheel you can run with these things?

Do you still believe in all the things that you stood by before? Are you out there on the front lines, or at home keeping score?
Do you care to be the layer of the bricks that seal your fate? Would you rather be the architect of what we might create?

LTorres- Thanks for the update. Yes, I think this might be way overkill for what I need. I am not doing anything to the truck (like pro-touring). Basically stock but I do some towing with it. What I am looking for would be a slightly larger rotor and dual piston caliper (something that would fit in a stock 16" wheel). I currently have stock 15" wheels but could move to the next option up. I am not looking to move to aftermarket, large wheels as this truck gets little use. For me, $1000-$1500 would be the limit for a brake upgrade. Sounds like your setup would be great if I was going more hardcore with the overall package.

Oh well. Thanks for the info.

      Mike,
I wish I were able to help on this one but the options are so limited. Since we only use Wilwood hydraulics in our kits we are limited as to which calipers we could use to actually provide you and upgrade. Sure we could come up with some off the wall caliper but would it truly help you gain efficiency in stopping power? Your Truck comes stock with a 2 3/4" piston for a total area of 5.939 sq. inches if you familiar with Wilwoods line-up of calipers the only one that even comes close is the GNIII caliper with a total area of 5.396 sq. inches. So even with this largest of calipers from Wilwood it is still a net hydraulic decrease.

Since it is very similar though our hopes would be to provide the bulk of the increase in brake torque by going with a larger than stock O.E. 11.30" diameter rotor, providing and overall increase in performance. Face it with 15" or 16" your kind of stuck!! Since you really will not be able to clear anything over a 12.19" rotor at most. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Nope. Company long gone. I should have closed the thread years ago. Closing now.
