Does 10 bolt 8,2 drums fit the newer 10 bolt 8,5 with discs?

Are you asking if your drum brake setup from an 8.2 10 bolt will fit onto an 8.5 10 bolt ??

So that you can't see that the axle has been changed,

Well, if you are swapping the rear end from a second gen f-body to first gen f-body, the 8.5 is 1" wider than the first gen camaro 8.2 but the same width as the first gen firebird. The leaf pads are in the same or almost the same spot though. The diff cover is different and the pumpkins have different tabs. So no one is going to know if you are looking at it from the wheel but they will from rear. On the other hand, I may be wrong but I think you may have problems if you are only swapping the axles. Are you swapping the axles or the whole rearend? Just out of curriosity, why is it more important to not know that the rear has been swapped than to have disc brakes?

Assuming it does fit and you can get it hooked up, you could grind the ears off the 8.5 housing to camouflage it to look like an 8.2. If you do that, I'd bet most people won't have a clue which rear it is without climbing under the car and having a close up look.

They also have a different diff cover I think.

They may have a different cover but they are interchangeable as far as I know. I think all GM 10 bolts, truck, car, 8.2, 8.5, chevy, BOP all take the same gasket. I even think you can put a chevy c-clip cover on a BOP bolt-in housing but not the other way around.
