What size tires should I go with?

      Hey people,
They'll be going on my 70 Chevelle with Hotchkis springs/1" lower than factory.
What do you suggest/recommend? Maybe 275/40R17?

      Diameter 17" Width 9" Backspacing 5"

      I would use the 275/40/17.
I assume you are going the same on all 4 corners ?

I would run a set of Nitto NT 05. If You can't do 275/40/17 all the way around,245/40/17 on the fronts would look good.

275 too narrow for such a big car, run a 295. Better stance, better traction, and rear brakes less likely to lock up.

      tough on a 17x9. 9" is minimum on a 275/40. 285/40 needs 9.5, 315/35 needs 10.5

If you plan on driving it hard, I'd go 265/40/17 Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec (world's longest tire name?)

That is one of the top tires in SCCA ST* classes
