      605 vs 670 steering boxes

The 605 box has been an upgrade for early Impalas. Often a custom radiator is needed to clear it so no big deal. I have seen ads for the newer Delphi 670 box for them and wondering any thoughts between the boxes and if someone has used the Delphi.

All I know is that Lee only uses the 670 box if I remember right, and I'm running the Lee box, which has been excellent in my A-Body. Got nothing more than that.
'66 GTO Vert Project "Red Ink", 462ci of stroked pontiac power, TKO600, SC&C Stg II+, Tubular lowers, Currectrac Rear suspension, Moser 12bolt w/Truetrack, Wilwood Master and discs all around, too much fun for words...

The 670's basic machining tolerances are far tighter than that of the older 605's... even the 'tuned up' units.

The 670's are 'tighter' in feed back, they have adjustable bypass valving and they come in various ratios beyond what the 605 offers. If I were considering replacement for a stock unit, I would pretty much only run a 670... and I would only use one from Lee (I normally use different bypass valving than the public in masse.)

The 670 was actually finalized by Lee... and then mass produced by Delphi for the OEM. So... needless to say, that is why he is the man when it comes to the 670 box.

I have watched him hand fit the worm and ball bearings to the third decimal place in tolerance... can't say that about any of the other suppliers.
