Procharger tubing

Ive got a F1R procharger that I am plumbing right now. The hat; intercooler and supercharger discharge tube all have a rib or bead on them to help hold the silicone tubes in place so they wont blow off. Im using 3in. 16gauge mild steel tubing that I will have powdercoated. Im using stainless T-bolt clamps. Ive got a 15lb. pulley on the blower.
The problem is, I cant seem to find someone who can bead roll a... well, a bead on the ends of the pipes. Question is, Do I need the beads for retention, or will the clamps be enough?

Weld a bead onto it all the way around. The other trick is to tack either welding wire or a coat hanger around it to act as a bead. at 15 PSI you really need some kind of bead on it. I used welding rod and my buddy Tom braised it on:

No issues of hoses popping off (like some of my friend's chrome tubing, no bead), and the beads are small enough to allow an easy install. Since the beads are rounded, as opposed to a sharp-edged flare, they don't chew up the insides of the hoses. After ceramic coating, looked really sano.

Pleanty of people run without beads at 15 psi. However there are two things to be aware of.....

1. Don't do your T-bolts too tight. They can and will deform aluminium and mild steel pipes.

2. Whan you are sure you won't be taking things apart for a while spray the tubes where the silicone makes contatct with hairspray. Tighten the bolts. Allow to set. Go driving........

If you need to get them off...... Well just take your time and you had better have plenty of patience!!!!

Before you weld beads or coat hangers just get steel or aluminium V-bands welded of you like the look.

An idea mentioned to me when I wanted hard lined rad hoses was to cut a 1/8 ring of the same material then slice it at one end allowing you to slip it over the tubing. then weld it up and you may have to fill in where you sliced it with weld. Never tried it my self but an idea to pass on.
