Hey guys, iam about to purchase a front drive pulley system for the 5.3l LSx engine i put in my dads 80 Camaro. We have looked around a little and see alot of people using the Vintage Air Front Runner kit. What are you guys using and what do you think is the best bang for the buck?

I've seen the 5.3 w/truck accessories fit in the 68-72 nova. Its tight, and which hood you have may be a factor. If you want to notch the cross member you can even mount the compressor in stock location. Otherwise, I think the best bang for the buck has to be the GMPP setup. Last I checked it was around $800 with AC, less without. Check out Pace Performance site.

If your looking for a great set up that includes all the accessories, brackets, out 2 favorite are Vintage Air Front Runner and Wegner, Both look great and are truly built for performance and not just bling. the Wegner has the best belt wrap in the industry which is really important especially when it comes to the power steering. Because we put such big tires on the front of the cars, the power steering (power steering belt) is under a lot of pressure to turn the big meats. Many systems that do not have much belt wrap will "bark" the belt in parking lots.
I still need to load the vintage Air Front Runners on the store, here is a link to the Wegner

Hey Frank..I was going to ask you this eventually anyways, so why not here. Does the Wegner kit come with a water pump? I noticed it has everything else listed but that. If not, how much to add one?

No worries, I have a high mount mounting for front steer cars. However, you might want to try it in the low position. We run it in the low position in 68-72s for sure

Water pump is couple hundred bucks, you can get it from GM or we can supply it.

I just ordered the GM kit that came with everything needed..I did it because it was what I could afford. I think the other ones listed above are much nicer.

Brian--
For what it's worth, our LS Victory system (http://c1pulleys.com/lschevyvictoryseries.html) will work great for your engine as long as you're not running an HEI distributor. As long as you are running the Stock style coil packs it will work great.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
Kevin

In the "bang for the buck" catagory, the GM kit is nice. But relocating the AC compressor is often required. On my 5.3, I went with the truck alt/PS pump (free) and a Kwik performance high AC bracket ($100 when bought with Classic Air kit).
Not nearly as pretty as the ones above, but seems to work fine.

I went the Corvette accessory kit and Kwik AC bracket with SD508 compressor. Total investment is $1200 and you'll have a new AC compressor and belt you can sell on ebay to make the actual investment a little lower.
