I am building up a '70 Nova mainly for street and cruising, and want to put a set of American Racing 200S wheels on it. It has 265/70R14s on 8" wide Magnum 500 wheels now. These tires measure around 26" in diameter and rub the fender wells just a little when turned to the stops. It will be kept pretty much at stock ride height, maybe lowered an inch or so. I'm torn between the classic 15" wheels and the newer 17" wheels. I'm leaning towards the 17" ones, probably 7" or 8" wide for the fronts but am not sure how big I can go on the rears. Would like around a 27"-29" diameter rear tire to give a little lower cruising RPM.
Any ideas from those of you who have probably done this before?
Here is a picture of the 200S wheels.
