      'Mojave' type heater under dash?

Does anybody use an under-dash 'mojave' type heater for getting rid of the stock HVAC unit? This would be a heat-only application. Im looking to replace the GIGANTIC stock HVAC unit in my 87' G-body. Im not concerned with A/C, I just want heat on my toes for those chilly summer nights and defrost.

I was going to do the same thing in my Malibu, but have been looking at the factory Monza/Vega/Sunbird/Skyhawk heater boxes. It seems like the afore mentioned heaters could be mounted to the flat "block off plate" that most install in place of the stock HVAC. Then it would be custom attaching the two together. I do know that when other G body guys have mounted the Mojave type heaters on the back of a flat block off plate it interferes with the glove box. If I do not go the Monza heater route - then I'll do a Mojave type heater and build a "bump out" on my block off plate to allow the glove box to be left alone.

I ended up buying a Vintage Air "Gen II" heater/defrost unit that I tucked up under the center of the dash. It was about $230 from Summit. It has more features and Is shaped better for the G-body application. I could have put it on the backside of the "a/c blockoff plate" and still kept the glove box intact, but I really wanted it tucked behind the center of the dash, so thats what I did.

I put one in my 62 nova, worked fine, had defrost hook up kit on it. Does run you outta the car but it will knock the chill off on an early morning.
