View Full Version : What wheel color/finish for my '67 Camaro?

So I have a set of CCW Classics to put on the 67 Camaro but they need to be refinished. They are currently just polished, but nasty looking because they have seen quite a bit of track time and no cleaning. Should I just get them back to a polished shine, or powdercoat the centers (or whole wheels) a different color(s)

The car (took yesterday with cell phone after washing, better photos are floating around somewhere):

and for those who don't know, CCW Classic:

I'm really partial to a satin black center with polished lip, but I'm curious what the naysayers think :)

Oh, and the new sizes are 17x10 and 17x11 compared to the 8.5 and 9.5s that are on it

here's more of the car:

Almost the exact color of my 67:)

I like the looks of black wheels, when looking at a wheel catalog, ie with bright lights. On a car black wheels disappear into the wheelwell. I would go no darker than gunmetal, and that is almost too dark. Silver or natural brushed aluminum are best to see the style of the wheel.

Brushed Titanium gets my vote.

To me titanium is a metal, not a color or finish. What color/finish is brushed titanium to you?

Did you want to paint cause you didn't want to polish anymore or you just want a different colored wheel now?

It's a color option from CCW on their classic wheels (pic not from ccw website).

YES. They were an old set of race wheels from my Corvette (I moved up to 18s) and i think between me and the previous owner, the wheels have never been cleaned. There is no polishing these as they currently sit, tried 1 small section for an hour yesterday...it's just not happening. They need to be stripped and started over. So it's all how I want to finish them..

Oh, and polishing- polished aluminum wheels is also not very fun... :)

The first one might be satin black, I just lifted the pics off a forum, but they could have had the wrong color.

This one's listed as Brushed Titanium as well.

Could just be the lighting. Regardless, I like them both. If gunmetal is similar, then that would look nice.

To me, gun metal is what a gun is made out of. What color is a gun?

You can do what I did on my CCW SP500s on my Vette when polishing them was just beginning to be a chore...chrome them. They look great, no more scratches and clean up easily.

Well, I could open my safe and tell you 6 different colors. But a google search for brushed titanium and gunmetal gives compeltely different results. Gunmetal shows a ton of wheels that are all basically the same color, brushed titanium shows jewelry...

I've always disliked chrome..but this may turn into an option if I end up just getting them refinished as polished

I guess to some, wheels ARE jewelry! LOL. I like that Titanium colored anodizing. Speaking of PITA to clean BBS, HRE, CCW type wheels with many spokes, how can you get wheels Teflon coated? Anyone know? I have black and grey (Gunmetal?) Teflon coated pans. Both would look bitchin' on wheel centers but the only wheels I see that are Teflon coated are the XD (no gun pun intended) wheels from KMC/Amer. Racing.

This is what I think of when talking about gunmetal...

I'm on my cell now, but that looks like flat dark earth to me :D

No idea on Teflon coating wheels.

It was a couple different colors. The EO tech used to be a really cool anodized Coyote/ FDE color, almost like the racing bronze color seen on Ray's or Volk.
