Hey, I'm just trying to get an idea of what it typically takes to get a set of custom wheels built, or how long some of you guys have had to wait with some of the builders?
thanks

When you say custom do you just mean custom backspacing and color? Or do you mean a custom one-off designed wheel? Our one-off wheels take up to 8 weeks. Wheels from our 2 line with custom spacing and finishes take less then 4 weeks.
I have ordered mine on October 25th 2010 and am still waiting. So it's been over 4 months now

Each manufacturer is a little different. Call them direct to check build times.

wow, thought I had it bad, mine were the end of December. I'm assuming you weren't expecting it to take that long?

I just saw this post. Lex, who did you order our wheels through? We don't have any orders in our system that go back nearly this far. You can call me directly at # 866-634-4626.

Appreciate everyone's input, as it stands right now I'm not going to post any names as I've been following the other discussions in regards to vendors not delivering and I know the moderators don't take to kindly to negative vendor feedback. If you would like to know who I've been dealing with feel free to send me a PM and I'll let ya know for sure. I bought based on what I read on this site which seemed to be all good reviews as far as I could tell but I definitely won't make the mistake of ordering from them again.

Those (good) reviews can be very deceiving!!!

yeah definitely, I didn't post this to just jump on and bash a vendor, only decided to see what everyone else was experiencing after a number of emails, phone calls, to the vendor and getting nothing in return but a bunch of lies.
Feel that if a vendor is going to promote themselves on here they need to be accountable as well, as a business owner I understand that things do happen and mistakes are made but I don't feel that's what has gone on here and if I can save someone else the hassle of having to go through it, then it's worth a couple minutes of my time.

I think this is exactly why we need an official rating system for the vendors on this board. It has been my experience that people on this board stay away from making negative comments about the site's sponsors---to the detriment of the other members. I'm as guilty as anyone else. I had the same issue as you (& Lex) with the same vendor--we worked it out and it seemed pointless to come back and bash the guy. Also, I did not want to open up a big can of worms and have to defend myself for reporting a bad experience with a site sponsor!
I want to make clear that this was in no way a shot at Boze Alloys. I talked to Zak at Boze and it was a misunderstanding. Boze didn't receive my order until the end of December. Once they received my order they built the wheels in 6 weeks and have been waiting on the vendor for shipping instructions. I don't want to bash anyone on here. All I care about is getting what I paid for. I understand there can be problems especially when you deal with more than one vendor at the same time. Zak from Boze has been awesome in helping me get my issue worked out. I think if people would communicate better with each other it would prevent more misunderstandings. I think most people would understand better just being honest with one another.

So the vendor took your money and didn't order the wheels until 2 months later? And now Boze has been waiting almost a month for the vendor to supply shipping instructions?

Really depends on the company you are dealing with and what they have in stock. My Centerlines are not custom, but I ordered a particular size and backspace. Took about 4 weeks or so.

That basically sums it up. There was a major communication problem.
This is not all I'm dealing with either. I ordered headers from another guy in November and haven't received them yet either. I can't win.

PMed you too.
I do think a vendor rating system is warranted. The uncertantiity casts doubt on the legit guys.

Just thought I'd update everyone on the wheels, finally got 3 of them today, can't explain why but the fourth one didn't ship out until 4 days later so I won't see it until thursday. So in the end it took over 12 1/2 weeks from the date I ordered them. Really happy with the overall look of the wheels and would recommend the manufacturer to anyone, would just suggest staying on top of then vendor.

Same story here, Centerline had mine ready to ship in the 3 weeks they told me they would be ready.
They actually shaved a few days in the shipping delivery, so it was 3 weeks, +4 days.
I bought mine direct, and had good e-mails with the salesperson I ordered them from.

My experience with Boze has been good. My wheels came in when expected at about 8 weeks.

I ordered my wheels from a well known site vendor on 12-7-10 they are supposed to delivered on 3-31-11. This was for a set of wheels that the manufacture told me only had a 3-4 week build time.
I too think we should be able to rate the site vendors.
Poolboy 67, we used the same vendor
Here is a preview of the Boze Grip I just mounted on my 78 TA. 18 x 10 in the rear and 18 x 8 in the front. I still have a ways to go until I get the car off the lift but I couldn't wait. Zak at Boze Alloys did a great job on these IMHO.
Less than three weeks from intro wheels!!!!

Hey Lex - those are a great wheel for your car! Good job man...
I ordered through PTS (some Boyds) and they got them babies done in like 3 weeks flat. I've had to wait 6 months on other wheels though..
When we take an order for a set of wheels we immediately place the order with the manufacture and send the required funds at that time. When we receive the order confirmation we provide that information to the customer so he or she knows that we are not sitting on their money. If at anytime their is a problem we are always in a position to respond to the customer properly. The wheel business has a large number of companies selling wheels and the majority of the delays come from the dealer and not the manufacture due to the fact that no deposit has been sent on time or even sent at all so the customers order gets delayed or maybe not even placed.
The point of all this is that when poor business is being conducted in this matter it makes the rest of the wheel retailers look bad. If you have a set of wheels on order and you have been waiting for a long time then by all means call the manufacture and they will give you a heads up as they may not even have your order. We will even offer to call them for you if you cannot get anywhere...
Regards,
Perry

That's great advice Perry. I ended up figuring that out the hard way.
Thanks Ron! I would like to get some shots outside in the sun. I think it would look much bettter. I just need more patience to get this thing done.

some things are worth waiting for hopefully they would at least tell you that up front though so there is no misconceptions, the part that frustrated me in the whole thing was being lied to and misled.

I guess I just dont understand why you guys dont name the vendor. Since we dont have a vendor feedback forum yet.....is it breaking some kind of rule here? I mean really.....its not like you went off the deep end badmouthing them. Its just stating it took X number of weeks to get Y wheels from Company A. Period.

Sorry guys. Time to lock this one up now it's turned into peer pressure to "name the vendor".
