After lurking for several years, I figured I would post my mostly completed project. This project took me 7 years to do. I have named it Not a Bee because everyone mistakes it for Bumblebee from the Transformers. I never intended it to look like Bumblebee. In fact, I have wanted to paint it Yellow and Black since 1988.

I have owned the car since 1986 and drove it until 1991. I let it sit until 2003 when I started restoring it again. The car is nearly complete so I figured I would put up the project progress. The complete restoration documentation is on my site here.

Currently the car is running a carbed 327 engine with a 4 speed transmission. I have C5 brakes on the front with LS1 F-Body brakes on the rear. I am running Pro-Touring F Body leafs on the rear with QA Coil Overs on the front.

I am in the process of installing TPI now and will be adding a Vintage air system this spring.

Thanks and enjoy.

Looks great! Love the wheels and color combo!

Not sure if you saw the RTTS (Run to the Shore) event thead posted in the "Racing Events" Section, but there is a Pro-Touring event at NJMP (Millville, NJ) April 1-3. I believe there are still some spots open...

I saw that event. I am not sure it will be back on the road running by then between the TPI and Vintage Air setup.

Nice Car man!! Gotta love the 2nd gens! PLEASE tell me about the door panels! They are beautiful and the late model console...I would like some details on the interior. Was it a major task? Is the console e brake functional? Give us some details please.

Door panels are the Year One one piece panels. They took some work to install but I am happy with them.

The console is out of a 93 Camaro and yes the hand brake is functional. I installed the handle using the cables from a 98+ Camaro to mate to my 98+ rear disc brakes.

Thanks for the pics of the panel install....I've got these same panels for my Firebird (yet to install).
May I ask how you're holding the door trim insert onto the door panel, is it just clamped by the handle and switch?

I am using the plastic clips that came with the panel. I have a section that is popping up. I plan on fixing those areas with some double sided emblem tape. If you e-mail Year One, they will send you directions on how to install the panels.

I agree about the radiator hose. It will be black once the TPI unit gets installed this month.

The Vintage Air unit and TPI are now mostly complete. The car is running and the TPI needs tuning. The Vintage Air is installed and needs charging. The VA system was purchased from Prodigy and I am using the hidden hose option. Here are some of the progress pictures.
