44905Can someone tell me about this caliper?? It supposed to be a Wilwood single piston GM D52 style caliper. But I can't seem to find anything on it.

Check Wilwoods website... I remember seeing them on there... I believe its a circle track application for stock classes... Howe makes a similar product.
hope this helps...

It looks like the front Wilwoods on HMMWV's.
Nope. See edit.

Thanks. I'll look again. But I didn't see anything on my previous look. I assume they are probably an older discontinued model. But may be better than my stock cast iron calipers in the short term until I can buy the newer D52 calipers. I'll send a pic to Wilwood and see what they say also.

I have Wilwood's new dual piston Caliper upgrade for d52 calipers... everything bolted right up and the quality is very, very nice.. i went with the (2) 2" piston option. Check my build thread for more details (link below).

Those are what I'll probably switch to in the long run. I know someone who has these for basically free. So if they are any better than my stock ones I'll use them until the car is finished then switch to better calipers.

Speedway motors sells them. They are listed under the hot rod section. Here is a link.

They also carry the came caliper for metric 78 and up.

It could be the smaller version of the GM III since that has a 2.38" piston. But the pic is different. I'm going to stick with my stock calipers since the piston is bigger than these. But after the project is all done I'll probably switch to the new D52 calipers for the front.

Honestly until I read this thread I did not know about the D52 calipers. I have nice but cheap setup on my rear that I will use these instead of the GM3. Thanks for posting it.:)

Thee look like an old version of Wilwood's aluminum GM caliper. They had some rigidity issue when pushed hard by the circle track guys. In fact many in classes that required a GM style caliper just used a lightened(cut up) cast iron one.
Many circle track classes even some of the late model asphalt cars require GM type calipers, why Howe came out with a dual piston aluminum one years ago..
