Most of you have seen our orange Project C-10 either at events or in print (http://www.truckinweb.com/tech/suspension/1102tr_1967_chevy_c10_buildup/photo_01.html).

We're hard at work rebuilding the truck to make it even better for the 2011 season and you can follow along on our Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/hotchkis1) page in the C-10 Overhaul album.

Waiting for our new engine...

Where's the front of the truck?
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif
Super strong bracing to make up for engine clearance made in the crossmember.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif
The GM E-Rod LS engine will go about there.
We'd like to encourage any of you building project vehicles with Hotchkis (http://www.hotchkis.net) suspension to share your build photos with us on Facebook or here in the forums.

Looks like this should be a great build.. I do however have a question about the front crossmember. Why did you guys decide to notch the center and not go with an aftermarket crossmember?

Wouldn't an aftermarket crossmember use different suspension components?
Although I did see a new aftermarket cast aluminum oil pan in a magazine recently that is supposed to clear most crossmembers. I don't know that it's available yet though.

There is a crossmember that clears the newer chevy motors and older alike it does however require a rack and pinion..

BrakenIt,
The crossmember we’re modifying is the original unit. Since we’re not modifying the suspension mounting holes, we’ll still be able to use our bolt on or stock suspension pieces.
We could change the oil pan, but notching the crossmember leaves us more options of engines in the future and also allows us to install a GM Performance Parts E-Rod engine without having to loosen a single bolt on the engine.
Thanks for the note! Keep following along on FaceBook (http://www.facebook.com/hotchkis1?ref=ts).

I always have loved that body style. Nice to see one that was actually in one peice unlike mine. Ill have to watch what you do for your fuel system for the LS3 sice I will be running a 427inch striker LS3 in my C10, if it ever gets done.

We’ve been making a lot of progress on Project C-10 Overhaul!
Here’s some beauty shots of the chassis showing off some of our handiwork and our TVS kit. We’ve also stitch-welded all the chassis seams and added a lot of strengthening braces and then had it powdercoated. The rearend was swapped out for a Cup Car style full floater setup.
Now to start getting the body mounted and get the new GMPP LS3 E-Rod crate engine fired up. It’s coupled to a new GMPP 4L65E automatic overdrive transmission and controlled by a TCI control unit and paddle shifter. The engine has a new Vintage Air Frontrunner billet serpentine drive setup.

Thanks Nessumsar!
Actually, he's going to be competing at the Goodguys Nationals in Columbus in the C10 on that weekend. That said, we believe Rob Phillips will have the Phillips and Co. Hotchkis equipped C10 at the Fontana Autocross.
