Budget wide wheels, is there such a thing?

I've been searching for wheels for my project for a while now and all I can come up with are expensive 3 piece forged aluminum type wheels, does anyone make any cheap wheels in 17 or 18" with atleast 11" of width and available with a variety of backspacing? I dont care if it adds 20lbs of rotational weight, Im on a budget damnit! I also want to fit some good disc brakes on the car and I need large rims otherwise I would be happy with 15x12" steel rims!

I am looking at the billet specialties right now also. I want the challenger in the street smart line. another option though is the vintage wheel works wheels. I believe they come in 11" widths.

yea the only real budget option that I liked in billet spec were the street lite's but I really liked the vintage wheel works V48's too. hmm thanks for the info guys

How much is your budget? I was looking at those ADV.1's that PTS just showed. The trakfunction wheels are only like 1200, which is pretty cheap for 3 piece wheels. They look bitchin, too.

CCW are very nice, but I would hardly consider them a budget choice when they are $600+ ea.
For that matter, i would not call a budget choice anything over $1000-1200 for a set, which is actually 'low'.
for anything billet or custom-sized.
Check out Pro-Wheel, they have a good availability in 18x7,8,9,10,12,15, they also have 17x7,8,10
They are reasonably priced, can handle custom 1/4" increments in backspace, finishes, engraving, one-offs, etc.

Matt, I saw your reply in the PTS thread and was already thinking you were confused and thinking it was for the set. I was also hoping it was for a set, would have bought them straight away but I guessed it was too much wishfull thinking.

Ha, yeah, I was basically ready to order thinking it was $1200 for the set. I haven't really compared those prices to other companies, but that's not really a "budget" price, IMO. :(

haha yea way overpriced. my max budget is like $1500 for the whole set, but would have to be the perfect size and really do something for me in the looks department too. I just got some 15x7 and 15x8 nascar style wheels from aerowheels and they were only about $50 each so yea thats what I mean by budget.

Be sure to try and "see" the wheels before you buy them. Even though you are on a budget, you don't want to make a costly purchase to find out that you don't like them.

There are plenty of software tools that can aid you in getting a glimpse of what the new wheels will look like on your ride.

I like that Boze wheel. For me, wheels and stance really make or break the car. I would likely delay buying until I could find what I really want. I bought a set that I really like and will be happy with long term for pretty cheap for now, but these will be replaced with some New Gen's when my money situation changes. But I didn't spend more than 500 on this temporary set. You could go with a set of Corvette C5/6 wheels, but they require a pretty sizable adapter setup.

Cannon....I got BMW type wheels WAY cheap (5 & 7 series sedams have a backspacing thats close and the wheels have a lip, just not a deep dish) and many are available up to 10" width. Like $400 for a new set. Even if you count handing a machine shop $150 to redrill your hubs for the 5x120 pattern you are still ahead. I have a friend who can do it. If I decide to widen the rears later and spend $350/wheel, I'll still be ahead.

But if thats not your bag Pro Wheels as mentioned has really nice stuff starting around $1600 a set. To order them extra wide for the rear adds a few hundred $, but it sounds ALMOST in your price range.

I really like their X5 wheel.

Check out americanmuscle.com They sell a lot of things for mustangs but all their stuff is really cheap. They usually use the 5x4.5 bolt pattern tho. I got my 18x10's from them for 150 a piece and that includes shipping

I am planning on going with the CCW's, that is until I saw this thread.

CCW are about $600 per wheel , but John is great to deal with and the product is outstanding. So what is really available in a comparable wheel? IMO VWW stuff is not comparable at any price as they are cast wheels which are much heavier and not as strong. Has anybody out there found a forged wheel in a 17 or 18 x 10" or 11" at less than 500 per wheel. I think anything around $300-450 per wheel for something forged, and maybe even 3 piece would represent outstanding value and would deserve promotion on this site.

I think there is probably alot out there for the ford guys, and if you wanted a cast wheel there is also alot, but for those of us looking for something suitable for track use?? in a 5 on 4 3/4.
