17x9.5 fronts on a 69 nova

So I got my wheels today (ZR1 replicas), and they're barely touching the steering arm. They're also hitting the UCA.

Is this something that can be fixed with spacers?

I may have an out because the wheel company listed the wheels as brand new, unopened, and as they would come from the company. Well, not even close. Only one wheel was brand new, two had been mounted with tires, and the last wheel ... It said "OUT OF ROUND" on it. I mean, how can you send that to a customer ... Oh well. I'm waiting for them to call me back. /rant.

Wondering if spacers would help.

You can make those wheels work just fine. I had 17x9s with 4.5" BS and 255s; they came very close to the steering arm, but did not rub on the UCA or frame. They did however rub on the outer fender lip, right where the middle inner-fender mounting bolt is. I just removed the mounting bolt and it is a pretty friendly surface. I believe those wheels need a 1" spacer IIRC.

An 8" is as wide as you can go with a stock subframe and still maintain a low ride height. If you want the ride height stock or higher than they may fit but look like a 4X4.

I'll agree with Nate that 8" is as wide as you can easily go without having to tweak anything else, but I've seen 10 inch wide wheels under first-gen F-body and 68-74 X-body applications, so where there's a will, there's a way. You just can't be scared to do some cutting, welding and custom fabrication to make it happen...and you might need to 3-point that turn into a parking space, but no worries, it's about the journey, right?
