Widest front wheel size on 2gen firebird ??

I am helping my cousin with hes 73 Firebird project and he will use stock front A-arms with drop spindles. What could be the widest front wheel when using 18" or 19" wheels??

Taller 255/45/18s on mine... others are running 255/40/18s with no problems. HTH

Thanks for the input. I was hoping for to use 9.5" x 18" At front.Is that impossible?

my 285 40 17" Kumho's are the exact same size as my 255 50 16" were.

So you have to really look into the tire manufcture to get the max width.

9 inch wheels are certainly possible (and common.) I'm not sure about 9.5" wheels, but I'm sure it's been done.

I disagree that 8" is the max to keep the tire in the wells.........look at Year One's snowflake and honeycomb wheels....

They are both 17x9.....one has 4 7/8 BS, the other has 5". Both sets are meant to run at all 4 corners of a 2nd gen bird, earlier or later with stock suspension. Look on their website or over on PY for pics of peoples cars with these and they are not sticking out. Plenty of people running as much as 275's even on the front.

In fact, many people go wider with a bit more backspacing even on the front. Worst case scenario is modifying the stop a bit so that on hard turns you dont rub the swaybar.
