OK guys a racer buddy wants to swap out the DOT5 silicone for a glycol based fluid to see if it firms up his pedal. Procedure? Drain really well MC and calipers, blow out lines then pressure bleed some gycol based fluids first before fill the system with it?

I think that's the minimum. I'd go so far as to rebuild the calipers and master cylinder and replace all the seals.

I drained and blew out the DOT5, then flushed with air brake antifreeze (alcohol), drained it and blew it out again, and then flushed again w/ DOT4.
It's been 5 years, trouble-free (I flush w/ new DOT4 every spring though)

This is good to know. We have a couple vehicles with DOT 5 that I wish had DOT 4
