summer hp tire OR summer/winter , all season tire

so I will be getting rid of my 17's in favor of some 18's here soon. and will have to buy new tires of course.Heard tons of great stuff about he kdw's and was thinking of running these tires. the car will mostly be a street vehicle. with a run here or there at the goodguys auto x series or maybe at an open track day here at infineon. my question is how will a Summer tire perform durning the colder winter months? seeing as how where i live, i can pretty much drive the car year round. want to avoid having 2 sets of rims and tires seeing as how i cant run anything smaller then 17" wheels due to the 13" 4 piston setup up front and the 12" setup out back. thanks!

I would get summer performance tires, you do not get that much rain over there, and will probably never see snow, or rarely get cold weather, so summer tires IMHO.
Plus the KDW are 300 treadwear, most all season radials are 400+ treadwear, the difference in traction is a big jump.

The KDWs may appear narrower than other brands (IMO), so make sure you get to see them before they are mounted.

yeah theres no way i'll purposely drive in the rain or snow well.... we dont get snow and probably the coldest weather i'll drive in will be about in the mid-high 40's.
