      Transmission question

I have a 1977 Trans Am with a well built 400 with 6X heads with all comp cams parts. Getting to my question, I have a 350 transmission with all B&M internals it works very well but I would like to do more longer highway driving and I am wondering what others have done about changing to a latermodel OD transmission.

700R4 with an adapter plate should be no problem for you if you want to stick to an auto.

If you want manual, I would go either TKO or T56, the T5 is a good tranny for lower power applications, but takes too much work to make reasonable for this kind of swap.

If you care to deal with getting a transmission module, you could go with the 4L60E transmission. It's nothing but an electronically controlled version of the 700R4. It should allow for greater adjustment in shift points and line pressures.
