My 71 Camaro has 2" lowering springs (175#) with 1" lowering blocks. The car wheel hops with anything more than street tires. I track drive the car and want better straight line traction. I was thinking of some sort of torque arm or upper link. Ideas???

I second that Cal tracs are probably the best traction aid for a leaf sprung vehicle! Pricey but worth the money!
Definately Cal-Tracks... (or Competition Engineering)
OR... if you want to make yourself http://www.hotrodsandhemis.com/traction1.html
if you plan on having the car handle you better keep those things super loose, otherwise you are talking about bind-city. THey would work decent if you left them loose on the street and tightened them on the track. ALso not sure how you will like the solid front bushing.

I have Cal-Tracs on my 70 nova, I have them in the lower hole and have them tight, you can feel the bind pulling in the drive way, I will be experimenting at the track on June 5th, I'm going to try them in a coupe of configurations, I was going to try to get some adjustable shocks buy then, but I don't know if that will happen, I have gotten a 1.8 60 ft time with the CT's, I was getting that with slapper bars. I would like to see 1.5,1.6. I also need to change the front springs, the solid front eye bushings are rough, but you can get used to it, but I drive the car on the weekends, I would go crazy if I had to drive it everyday, Steve

I can't live with suspension bid because I would loose traction in corners or over bumps. Has anyone used any other alternatives to slapper bars or cal trac style bars? I had a torque arm arangement or a 3rd link like the 67 camaro had. thanks for the replies

What shocks ae you running? Also, try this mod.

Raising the front spring eye will increase bite. The shocks may help as well, but it depends on what you are running.

That and maybe a better set of leaf springs like Global West. They are biased towards the front of the leaf to prevent wheel hop. I have them on three of my cars and they work great even with drag radials.

I was thinking of doing the front mount mod, which will allow me to use 1/2" lowering blocks rather than the 1" in the car now, which I think contrributes to the wheel hop. I have Rancho leafs in the car, honestly. I have the entire 2nd gen kit with springs, shocks, and adjustable sway bars. The shocks are stiff. I may go to QA1 shocks so I can soften them up for the strip in the front to weight transfer better. The car is very tight and stiff. I ran it at the strip a few years with slicks and it chattered the tires really hard, slapper bars helped. how much higher is the hole drilled in the front bracket, I hear it is 1", and the top needs to be removed to clear the spring????

I had a little bit of a wheel hop problem with my Hotchkis springs. I think it was in most part due to cheap shocks, but his winter Im going to relocate the mounting holes as well. Then just need to decide on what i want to use for shocks.
