On the front or rear? I assume the rear because you mention a 9.5"? 5" is perfect

From what I understood, a 5.5" is in most cases (always a tiny bit of variance car to car) optimum for a 9.5" rim. So wouldn't a 5.25" be optimum with a 9" rim (to center the tire)? I've had the same question myself because not every wheel manufacturer carries a 9.5.

You want to protect the front space to keep the relashionship between the tire and quarter panel looking right so it does not have that sucked in look.

We run 5.25" on 9's and get creative with pad length depending on brakes to maximize wheel lip. Seems to be the sweet spot. Allows customers to run low without rubbing and does not suck the wheel into the center of the car.
