View Full Version : 1967 Mustang Tire Size

Hey guys, I need some professional, or experienced help. I need to know what the widest wheel/tire combo I can run on a 1967 mustang. I am gonna run a 20x10 wheel, so whats the widest tire I can go with? I will minitub if I have to, because I would like to run a 305/35/20 or a 315/35/20.

Gonna have a coilover suspension also if that matters. Gonna cut the axle to make it fit to the wheels, so backspacing is not really an issue at this point.

Any advice appreciated.

not sure what the question(s) are here? are you asking what the widest tire is that will fit a 20x10 wheel? OR asking what the widest rim tire combo that will fit a 67 mustang? because truth of the matter is you will be able to put pretty much what ever you want on there if your willing to tub and do a bunch of other modifications. typically a 9" rim with a 275 tire is about the widest you will fit(speaking about a 17/18" rim of course). if you went 20" rim without modifying the wheel housing, you would have to probably run a mythalogical tire size with something ridiculous like a 15 or 20 series tire, and of course all this depends on ride height.UNLESS you mini tub/TUB the car then your next concern will be the outer wheel well lip and then the opposite to that will be frame rail/leaf spring.hopefully this helps

even with a minitub, 305s will probably be very tight if they'll even fit. you'll need to consider either flaring your outer fenders or moving your frame rails for a bigger tub.

Overall diameter is much less important than width so a 20x10 with somewhere around a 275/35 tire will fit inside your stock wheelwells but you will need mini tubs for sure to fit anything much bigger.

WOW wasnt aware a 275/35/20 would fit in a stock wheel well. thats almost a 28" tire! but i guess a bigger diameter package would make it so you wouldnt have to lower it as much for the wheel lip to crest the tire, leaving all that room up in the wheel well for suspension travel.
