Are there any advantages to coilovers when it comes to tunning your susupension?

Typically they're mounted in such a way that you get a more direct motion ratio which allows you to run softer / lighter springs to achieve the same wheel rate. The DSE front kit would not be an example of that though.
They're also easier to change springs on.

You also can make them stiffer or softer in a much easier fashion than changing out old style coil springs. If you use adjustable shocks IE the QA1 you can actually get to the adjustment points on them without having to drop them out the bottom of the a-arms.

You can adjust corner weights at the track by changing the ride height at a given corner.
