View Full Version : How to get this trim piece off?

I'm trying to put a third brake light in my 69 Nova but I can't figure out how to get the little trim piece above the rear parcel shelf out. I took a couple pics of the piece I'm talking about:

And with the brake light loosely in place:

There was one screw in each corner, each holding a little corner trim piece in. I took those out and figured the long piece would just pop right out but it's still stuck in there. I tried taking one of the speakers out to get a better look but I'm still at a loss.

Ideas?

The hump shaped piece below the window is welded in as part of the body structure.

How bout mounting a brake light up at the top of the back glass instead of down low?

Is it covered in material from the factory? Mine's covered in black vinyl.

Thought about it, but I don't know how I'd go about mounting it...I'll have to look into it tomorrow to see if I can do it without messing up the headliner too much.
