Aside from the difference in power, is there any difference in ease of welding and arc between the 180 and the 211. I can get the 180 locally for a great price. I'd have to mail order the 211 for a couple of hundred more. This will be used for auto repair only.

Go with the 180. I have one and it works great for sheet metal all the way up to 1/4" stuff. I just finished building a rotisserie made out of 3/16" thick square tubing and it welded great.

Here ya go, read up...LOL

Looks like the amperage and duty cycle are a little better with the 211, but not by much.

Thanks guys. My local dealer made me a great deal on the 211 so I bought one. I like the dual voltage so I can take it to friends houses.

I did not realize that the 180 did not have the dual voltage. That is a great feature when in a bind, and well worth the money, looks like i will have to save a little longer.

just realized how old this thread is

I have the 211 and love it. No experience with the 180 but I am sure it is also good. I have made good use of the dual voltage. it is definitely worth having. you will probably want to upgrade to a copper ground clamp.

How thick have you welded with the 211? I am wanting to do some chassis fab, which will mostly be 1/8" stuff. But I also have a K5 blazer that I might build up that will have some 3/8" or possibly 1/2" brackets and mounts.

Anyone know if my 210 can be converted to dual voltage?

the max I have I have welded so far is 1/4". Millers website claims it can do 3/8" and 1/2" on flux core. I hope to find a reason to make use of that soon.
