I have flattened the firewall in my '72 Chevelle and have added hydroboost and the bracket for a hydraulic clutch. I am currently looking for ideas to seal the opening from around the steering column into the interior of the vehicle.

I have looked at several options including a 4" wide seals-it grommet on the exterior of the firewall. Does anyone have any suggestions that I may have not explored or thought of yet? Obviously I am a bit short on space which is one of the major limiting factors to my options.

Thanks in advance, BRIAN

Chris get a piece of 2" or 2-1/4" exhaust tubing and weld it to the firewall and cap the end of it with a hole in the end for the steering shaft to go thru.

Chris is right. I'm also using...

It allows you to adjust the angle of the steering column a bit as well, as the ball/socket arrangement can swivel until you tighten down the set screw. And, the seal is very good.
