Hello!!
I have bought Heidts tall 2" dropped spindles for my -70 Chevelle and am planing on buying the upper controlarms to, but i want to know if someone is using them and if they are any good?
I'm planing on using the stock lower arms for now, budget build...

I don't know about the ones for the chevelle's but I have the 1" narrowed upper and lower on 2 69 camaro's and have had nothing but problems with the bushings coming apart they rarely last longer than 500 miles. I plan on replacing the arms as I'm tired of replacing bushings.

Okey,
that is not nice, to have to change the bushings all the time. What is the "best" controlarm setup? There is none i know, but which is the most used one then?

The fly in the ointment here is the tall spindle. I don't know if Detroit Speed (DSE) arms will work with those spindles. I would contact DSE and ask them if their arms will work with those spindles. I like the fact that they real world test their parts, they beat the crap out of their cars.

We sell and install (in alphabetical order not order of preference)
DSE
Global West
Hotchkis
Ridetech
Speedtech
These are the oney arms we sell for a reason, all come with Delrin bushings. Speedtech is the best bang for the buck with polished stainless cross shafts, delrin bushings and priced lower then the others. but not priced as low as Heidt's.
We can save you a few $$$$ on any of the brands we sell, just let us know

Frank can steer you in the right direction on this. I'm sure he's got more knowledge than me on it so I would heed his advice.

No, you would have to divorce from those spindles also, they only work with their arms.

I would also give SC&C a call.

I have the complete Heidt's front subframe on my 75 TA. Have nothing but good luck. Price was less than most competitors. They are made local to me so I gave them a try.

not trying to steal thread but i purchased the same dropped spindles and used my stock 70 chevelle control arms and my rotors rubbed on lower control arm ,called heidts they said my ball joints were worn. so do you think i need to change to tubular arms? thanks

!#¤%&???
Now I am confused, from what I have read you can't use the original upper controlarms with tall spindels because you will max out the ball joint angle?? That includes all tall spindels.
Okej Frank, since I have already bought the spindels I am going to go for the Heidts uppers to. I'm collecting parts fore my build so it will be a year or so before I can say if I think they are good or bad.
Maybe you can change the bushings to Derlin bushing or some other durable bushing...... someone/anyone

Wrong decision. Your already being warned of issues. Adding another known trouble product will only double your problems, and you won't know for a year, it is almost gureenteed you will own these. By trying to protect your original investment your adding to the bad investment. It is like averaging down on a falling stock. Catching falling knifes!
I would try to return the spindles or sell them and get a different brand that uses stock replacment arms. You have a year to do it.

Now I think that I have a good solution to my problem! I am keeping the heidts spindels and using Umi performence upper controlarms with Derlin buchings, the price is good to 396.99$.
I spoke to Ryan at Umi performence and he was vary confident I would not have any issues. I have all Umi performence parts in the rear and am were pleased with that.
