I have a opportunity to trade the intake off my 98 f-body LS1 even up for an intake off a 98 corvette. The corvette intake does not have the EGR behind the thottle body (LS6??). My questions are is this a worthwhile swap or not worth the trouble? Are there any draw backs to this intake on a LS1? Sorry if the answers are obvious. I'm new to the LS engine. Thanks

A 98 Corvette would not have the LS6 style intake. That didn't happen until 01, I believe. The swap would not really gain you anything. Now if you do want to get an LS6 intake you can get about 15-20 extra hp out of that swap.

correct, the LS6 intake is flat on the bottom and doesn't have the wave like the LS1 intake does. You'll gain only astetics from this swap by getting rid fo the EGR. If you do want to swap to an LS6 intake, that would be worth your time and money. You'll need steam pipe block offs for the rear of the head and an LS6 front crossover pip for the front of the engine along with the intake itself.

you could pick up a couple of ponies just because the egr is not in the intake track. You can gain 1-2 by cutting down the egr in the intake.

If you check out LS1tech you will find tons of info on the LS6 intake swap. Many folks on there swear that the swap gives them 15 more at the wheels. The LS6 intake does flow better than the LS1, but how much is up for debate. check the site-you will get more info than you could ever imagine.
