9" wide and 275 on early a-body

Can't seem to find where I saw this but I think someone is running them on a 65 chevelle and I need to know If I have anything to watch for when doing this.

The new PHR has Kyle DSEs' '65 Chevelle and it has 18x9 rears with 275's. No info on the backspacing though. I have 17x10's with 6" BS and 285/40r17 tires on my '66 Cutlass. Not sure how different the inner fender is compared to your Chevelle.

66 A-body rear fender wells are much bigger than 64-65. I've seen pics and heard stories of guys running 275 tires in 64-65 A-body's. I put 255's on mine and dont think I could safely run a 275 tire. Your results may vary.

I would check with DSE. I'm sure they could tell you the backspacing on their Chevelle. They drive their cars hard so they would also probably know of rubbing issues.

Sorry guys I was referring to the fronts. I think it may be the car craft 65 chevelle they ran at the 341 challenge? I'm already running 17x11 in the rear with 315's. Any one know more info on the car craft chevelle?

Check with DriverzInc. They would probably know the specs for a '65 Chevelle. I saw pics of 275's/315's they had on a '67 El Camino. I would bet with the right backspacing you could get a 275 on the front. don't know if you'd have full lock to lock turning before hitting the swaybar or frame. Do the 315's fit on the back without minitubs?

i kinda mini tubbed. they almost fit with the quarter lips cut but not at the ride height i wanted so I brought the outer wheel well straight out to the quarter.

It looks like CarCraft used 17x9.5s with 6"bs and 275s on the front of thier '65 El camino

On a standard 64/65 rear wheel well i doubut there is room for a 275 wheel. Running 265 on a 10 inch rim but mine is modifyed. But up front its probably room.

You cant compare a 64/65 to a 66/67.

I wouldn't mind being able to run 275's on my Hardtop either.

275's om a 9" rim should fit stock no problem in back, but like I said earlier, its pretty easy to fit an 11" rim in the back, at least it wasn't to involved to make them fit on mine and its pretty low.

I'm VERY interested in seeing your rear setup. Your running an air suspension right? I may have asked you already (and forgot) but what tire size are you running? I'd love to get a 20x11 in there but that might be asking too much without a mini tub.

your gonna have to do something with the tubbing to fit the 11's. I had an air setup but now have coil springs. Heres a video of it running last weekend autocrossing.

I was digging around for wheel and tire size info for my '66 Chevelle when I found both this bit about the CarCraft El Camino and the current specs on the Ridetech '66 chevelle (also running 275s on all four corners).

I was really surprised to see such wide tires on the front of a '66. Do we know if the fenders are rolled on these cars or any other changes to fit these big wheels? The old info I dug up on the Ridetech Chevelle had 225s on the front!

I'm here for the info as well (but for the 66), my car has 20x11 rears with 325/25/20 and 19x8.5 fronts with 245/35/19, will have to see what it takes to get a bit more tire up front. Also will consider getting a taller sidewall (not sure it's possible at the current size/setup), but will see.
