Hi Guys,

I just fitted a complete set ( front and back) of Baer Pro Plus 6P on my 69 Camaro . When I first got the car it had C5 set up at the front and early 80s Cadillac discs at rear, with the original 69 11" booster and disc / drum master cylinder. This set up was pretty average, and i'm pretty sure that the MC set up was incorrect the brakes.

I have searched high and low on here and other forums for the correct master cylinder set up for the pro plus, and from what I can gather I should go for a 1-1/8" bore master cylinder based on similar set ups. However, I have based this on the Wilwood and Baer set ups - 6 pot fronts and 4 pots rears. I just want to confirm before ordering a new Wilwood MC.

I have also emailed Baer and haven't received any feedback as of yet.

I would also like to thank all for the wealth of information available here. :worship:

Cheers,

I went with DSE- booster - master combo- they say it works great with all the Baer products- we'll see

Is that an 1-1/8" bore unit.

The DSE setup is a dual-9" booster with a 1" bore master cylinder IIRC.

Post up your caliper piston sizes...I'd be willing to bet that you do not want to run a 1-1/8" bore MC unless you've got a hydro-boost hiding under the hood.

I spoke w Baer a couple of weeks ago. Same set up and I already have a 7/8" Wilwood master. They said to try that, that optimum would be 15/16". Wilwood only comes in either my size or 1" and 7/8" (I believe) and in a manual application would give better feel at the pedal...

I'd like ot hear Steve Rupp chime in here, he went though this recently and I'm wondering what he's running today. I think BOS told me he tried both sizes.

Thanks guys. The calipers have the following specs:

Front 6-piston diameters are 1.625 / 1.375 / 1.1875"
Rear 6-piston diameters are 1.1875 / 1.125 / 1.000"

I guess my options are to run with the 11" booster and get a new 15/16" or 1" booster or run a complete new DSE set up. Does this sound right.

I would prefer the booster option to have a lighter pedal

Given the piston diameters provided above, the fornt and rear caliper areas are as follows:

6P front = 4.664 in^2
6P rear = 2.886 in^2

These calipers have about 16% more piston area than a similar C5/C6 kit front and rear, so for similar pedal feel, you would want to use a MC bore approximately 1/16" larger. Pad compound certainly plays a part as well, however as a general guideline I would suggest a 15/16 to 1" bore for manual applications, 1" to 1-1/16" for vacuum boosted and 1-1/8" to 1-1/4" for hydro-boost.

Tobin, Thank you so much for taking the time to sort this out for me.

I think 1" should be sweet :)

We put those brakes on Bad Penny, first master was the fancy Aluminum Willwood 1" bore, - manual brakes. The pedal effort was a little high so Steve switched to the 15/16" (.88) bore version which works great. This is all on a 14" rotor system.

Thanks for the info David. I have the same set up. Questions for you - was the 15/16 a Wilwood unit? Do you think my 7/8 will work as suggested by Baer?

Sorry for the hijack!
