View Full Version : El Toro Run to the Coast 2011

OK boyz and gurls, we have conformation on the dates for next year's event. It will be March 4-6. Mark those dates down now. Obviously, we don't have a registration set up yet, but please note, we will run TWO FULL DAYS at EL Toro, so we will be able to have 130 or so cars for the two days. This will not be Easter weekend, so no excuses this year about attending. Yancy, Danny and I look forward to a return trip to Irvine and it will be a nice change of weather for us about then compared to East Tennessee.
I will move this in a couple days to the correct forum, but wanted to leave it here for a day or two so everyone would see it. I will announce when we have registration set up also so no one will miss it. Make your plans now to attend, I promise, no one will go away unhappy.

Awesome Bill. Thanks for all your efforts on this and to everyone else who helps out and sponsors this event. Last year's event was first class and I'm sure next year's will be the same and more.
Be careful with those promises about happiness though, some of us can't manage a smile on the back of a AAA flatbed. LOL

BTW guys, this year, with 130 or so spots open, we will have open field. Not finished with your hotrod yet? Bring the vette, the benz, the porsche, whatever. It is fun to compare our cars with newer ones anyway so bring your toys and lets play hard.

OK All, I will make it a point to be there this time, my Medusa was not ready last year. I have to be honest, I'm kinda doubting my cars performance and I’m new to this whole auto-X so I might be one of the slowest cars.

Oh, anyone and everyone. Don't worry about being the fastest or slowest. Honestly, it isn't about that. You learn so much at one of these events, and your driving improves so much that you will go away better than you came. I have yet had anyone tell me that they were made fun of for their driving. Now that's not to say you might get to wear a PINK HAT at some point in the day.......

I ran last year on stock 11" disc/drum brakes. Just get some good pads for the discs. Of course you are not going to stop like a car with 13" Baers or Wilwoods, actually I did better than some cars that had big brake due to a better balance in the system. RTTC is about having fun with the car and the people, not necessarily about a blazing time about the course.

Everyone runs as fast as the car will go. (Some go a little faster) Really you’re only competing against yourself. As long as you learn on each run your doing good. I ran a much smaller track at GoodGuys with a pretty stock 73 Camaro and I'm hooked. Just run behind me and I'll make you look good. :)

Id love to try to make the event. Maybe meet up with some members coming out from out east or something. SInce I would be coming down while there is snow still on the ground I would be trailering to probably Vegas then driving from there. If the 67 isnt done then I guess the Roush would just have to do.

Are there any rules around what modifications are or aren't legal for the competition?

I'm pretty sure anything goes, so long as it is safe.

Well, except tires, which must be 200+ tread wear. You can run R compounds but you will be relegated to the exhibition class, which in my opinion isn't a big deal unless you really care about winning.

I am so looking forward to to RTTC II. Please count me in. As last year, we have a small shop (just a warehouse space, where a couple buddies and me work on our cars) very close to El Toro if any body needs to make last minute repairs after arriving in SoCal.
Once again I expect I'll be the token Ford.
