widest wheel on 2nd gen camaro ?

What's the widest wheel I can put on a 1981 Camaro that has 2" drop coils and all else stock ? I have 15X8 vette rally's with 265-50 on the front and 15X10 and 295-50's on the rear . I want to stay with a 17 unless I find a good deal on 18's. Im also looking for some nice used wheels and tires . Thanks

Can't help you with used stuff, but I would use a 17x8 front and a 17x9.5 rear with a 245/45/17 and a 275-285/40/17 rear. If you are looking for a deal on something new, let me know.We have killer deals going on with Billet Specialties, and Vintage Wheel Works that are VERY affordable. And we can build the wheel to fit!

I'm going with a 18x8.5 20mm offset wheel 255/45 tire front, 18x9.5 12mm 295/45 rear. Will it require some slight clearance work? Maybe...but not much. They tuck under the fender nicely.

Contact John @ CCW wheels. He can build you a wheel to fit 295's up under the rears. He told me that if I didn't mind doing a little clearancing I could get 315's in there. I feel safe with going to a 295, this of course is buying new wheels but these are built to the car.

www.ccwheel.com, they are very reasonible priced too.

What kind of diameters should I be looking at for the front and rear? I was looking at the measurements on a Kumho XS 255/40R17 and it's 25" tall and should be on a rim between 8.5-10.0 wide. I also looked at the rears. I would like to run their 295/35R17 that is 25.1" tall and 11.9" wide. The say to run the tire on a 10.0"-11.5" wide rim. I know a 17x9.5 will fit and I could run a 285/40R17 in the back with a 17x8 up front with either a 245/40R17 or 255/40R17 tires. My Saleen runs 17x8 frt & 17x9 rr with 245/40R17's all the way around.

      17x8 (4.5"-4.75" b/s) w/255/45's and 17x9.5 (5.5" b/s) w/285/40's are a proven combo that will fit w/o issues.
A 10" rear w/295-40 rubber will also fit,but be prepared to pound in the rear seat belt attachment points on the trans hump to clearance them.
I know guys who run 315/35's too...it can be done...but you'll have to nail the b/spacing just right.
