Does any one make a door repair for the lower front part of the door that rusts out. or will this need to be fabricated?

Fab your own, or buy repop or good door shells.

dont waste your time or money with the skinning, just use a cut off wheel and cut off the bad spot and use it as a template and weld the new piece back in. Piece of cake.

I have skinned two and It isnt THAT bad, I would say that either way you are looking at using some body filler... but at least with a skin you know that you have a completely rust free door.

Agreed!...I re-skinned both my doors and it really is not bad, but a patch would work as well.

It can take just about as much time to do a patch as it does a new panel.

You decide if you want a patch that can haunt you later or a new panel that might not fit as well around the edges because your skill level wasn't up to it? it really is an easy job but that's just me.

make sure you line it up and tack it together on the car and not on a set of saw horses or a bench.

looking at this more I believe I should explain that a skin was put on previous owner, but did not fix the rust on the door shell. do they make a patch pnl for the lower shell?

No patch panels for the shell as far as I know. Either fab it, find a donor shell or buy a new shell.

what are the cons on the repo door shells?

For what year doors? There are lower section for 67 / 8 doors. 69s are just flat sheet

I once hammered and dollied a piece for the front lower curve area from 2 pieces of steel and welded them together to get the shape and then welded it on the inner panel. it's a lot of wrok but it can be done.

Good luck.

The best alternative is another door if you can find one reasonable.
