who has completed the 1st gen to LS1 front brake swap? need help and parts

I have been searching but I can not find a guide on how to do this. I have read David P's page and he does not have the info that I need. Is there a guide on the net anywhere? a copy of the conversion bracket needed to mount the caliper?

      Known items
      1. I know i will have to have the drum hub turned down to fit in the LS1 rotor.
      2. i will have to install longer wheel studs.

      Questions
      1. Will i need to do any machine work on my drum spindles?
      2. does anyone have a pattern or sell the mounting brackets for the calipers?
      3. Is there a guide anywhere on the net?

      thanks
      chris

So, are you talking about the 12" brakes? They are the same caliper. Just wondering.

They're almost identical. Here's some good info on the difference: https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5084

One main thing is the C5 calipers are stronger due to the ribs on the top of the caliper. Which is good for a pro-touring car.

The C5 will present fitment issues you won't see on the C4 which is also a strong caliper. Many, including those with track time, are using these.

      What rims/useage are you considering?

The drum spindles will need to have the upper boss milled down. I replaced mine with new disc spindles ( why use 35 year old castings) and spaced the upper spindle instead.
