Funny gas guage

My wife drives an 06 malibu ss that she is telling me that after she gets gas the guage will go from full to empty and trigger the low fuel light to come on then shoot back to full. then the SES light will come on. any ideas bad sending unit?

Do you know what code it's setting? If you don't have a scanner, just about any auto parts store will scan them for free.

You should be able to cycle the key 3 times to pull up the code on the odometer....or was that 07? If so you will get a PO number. Then you can look it up on the internet.
