View Full Version : Rated-Xes on a 64 GTO
That sounds so suggestive, doesn't it? Maybe it will pick up some odd Google hits?
Here is a set of 18 and 19" Rated-Xes we just put on a client's 64 GTO with a full Hotchkis suspension and Baer Brakes. 18x8s up front and this little goat actually holds 19x10s on the back!

That's a really good look. I like your wheels a lot, and I've been eyeing some for my project.
Do you know if any mods had to be done in the back to fit the 10s in the back?

So can we ask what backspace was used front and rear?.... and is the car tubbed out back?... and is it using the factory width rear axle?
I just acquired an A-body (1964 Oldsmobile) and would love to put a 10" rim out back- I just don't see enough room back there.
Thanks in advance!

No problem. The fronts are 5.625" backspace and 6.0 in back with stock axle width and wheelwells. No issues but all A-bodies are not alike so what works on this car does not work on my 64 A-Body and may not work on your Olds.

Jay,
So this is your car? What fitment are you using there? I have test fit a set of 18x8's on the car and 18x8 front with 5.875" backspace and 225/45/18 tire rubs the fender lip when turning lock-to-lock and out back an 18x8 with 5.625" with 225/60/18 tire and it appears to be centered pretty darn perfect... maybe a 5.5" backspace would center it perfectly. The body panel sticks way out over the wheel/tire but has a inner wall that bulges up into the wheelwell- so there's no way to bring the wheel/tire almost flush with the body or at least not without alot of sheetmetal work inside the wheelwell.
This is the car with the mentioned 18" wheels. I was never able to drive the car on the factory anemic 14" wheels with 205/75/14 tires. I'm borrowing the 18's while the owner is trying to sell them, so I am shopping for a fitment that will work. Not to mention, the factory springs seem to be sagging pretty well (I don't know what OE ride height is supposed to be).

18x8's mounted with 245/40/18 in front with 5" BS I think should fit without rubbing. As I recall in front, the A-Body cars are more alike the different with the exception of the bottom rear of the fender lip.
On the rear, it's very possible you'll need to remove that "inner wall" or "hump" to fit 275s on a 10" 18. It's not difficult.
