Hey guys< I'm just looking to see what type of power I could get out of a truck 6.0 short block? I would like to put about 400hp to the wheels through a t-56. Is this type of power easy to substain or would it take quite a bit of time and money?

I should also add What type of heads and cam do you think it would take?trying to keep on a tight budget but just looking for opinions

l92 heads and a camshaft and youll be there easy. I had a 6.0/t56 in a 68 firebird w/patriot heads and .580 lift cam. it was a handfull

400hp would be easy. And that would be using stock heads. A stock LQ4 makes 300hp. Stock lq9 (higher compression) makes 345hp. Intake, hotter cam, and bolt ons would put you well above the 400hp mark.

I'm wanting 400HP at the wheels, I've read there easy to make power with with slight mods but I'm guessing i'll have to put out close to 500 at the crank to put 400 to the wheels?

Spend some time browsing over on www.LS1tech.com (http://www.LS1tech.com). The power levels you want, believe it or not, are routinely achieved.

I knew that was going to pop up, I've been on there and can't make heads or tails of that site:hammer:

L92 heads and a cam in the 228 range with springs, just shy of 600 lift will put 425HP to the tires.

Yes, I had those numbers with a 6.0L, box stock 243 heads, and a 228/232 cam...

My personal recommendation for a cam for you would be the Torquer V.2 from Texas Speed: http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=168&catid=44

Another vote for the V.2. I have it in an LQ4 I dropped in my Avalanche. I'm very pleased with it.
