GM Performance Parts Transmission Controller PN12497316

I hope i didnt act to quick, but i got a GM trans controller for really short money. I want to put a 4L60E in my 81 camaro behind a mild 350. Its a cruiser and i would like to have another gear. Not looking for it to work with paddle shifter or be the newist and greatest. Just want it to control the trans. My aunt had a 97 TA when I was in high school and i liked how it shifted. I know they put on in a 69 camaro on mucsle car on spike. Anyone know anything about it or have any experiance with it. Also whats a good doner car to get a 4L60E from (trying to keep this on the cheap). Hope Steve chimes in. Thanks Bill

      Hi Bill,
The GMPP unit is not a bad controller. It's easy to set up and tune. It's not the most powerful. The biggest challenge could be tech support, but we can help you here.

As for the transmission, a "mild" 350 is easier to shop for. I get the sense that you are looking for a used trans. Any 2wd application will work. Avoid 4wd units as they need to be converted. History is everything. I can tell you that a 2002 TA trans is better than a 2002 Silverado trans, but I still believe that history is more important. In lieu of available history, you really should try to send some business to a reputable trans shop.

In addition to overdrive and lock up, you will be able to perfectly calibrate the system to your car's exact specs and your exact driving preferences. So keep pushing forward. The results are worthwhile.

Sorry to bring this Tread back up but did not see the point in starting a new one. I ended up with a Turnkey LS motor with the SD computer not a gm computer and a 4l65E with a gm GMPp trans controller. my question is were do I hook up the TPS seeing that the motor computer is using the one on the throdel body. can I piggy back on that signal? and if so witch is supply ground and signal. or do i need another sensor. thank you.

      Help Please

I just bought a car with a 4L60E and a GM 12497316 transmission controller. I don't think the transmission shifts like it should and am looking for info on how to set it up. I know this is an old post, but I am taking a shot. Thanks,
