I'm planning to enter '79 TA autocrossing at an SCCA event for the first time. Should I run an oil accumulator, as Moroso or Canton makes? Or is this a non-issue on a short course? I run Castrol Syntec in my warmed-over Pontiac 455, stock oil pan. The car handles much better than stock with stiffer springs, big swaybars and poly mounts; but I only run on 245 BF Goodrich Radial TAs on the stock 15x8 wheels. Should I just keep an eye on the oil pressure gauge? I've driven the car hard in the mountains and have not detected excess wear in oil analysis.

Road racing is where you may encounter problems. I doubt you have to many in autocross. Take it out to a parking lot with a passenger and simulate an autocross while they watch the gauge.

Those tires, I doubt you'll be able to generate the sustained G's to really cause a problem.
You are much more likely to have an EVAC issue where you barf oil out of the valve cover.
That said, an accumulator is rarely a bad thing

Ditto on the accumulator not being a bad thing, it's great insurance and a great way to pre-oil your engine before start up

Check out Canton's road race pan for Pontiacs. I used one on my 601 and it fit great. I never got the rest of the car together, but that pan was trick!

Use the Canton roadrace pan, it has the internal baffles and trap doors to keep the oil around the pickup, the stock pan will allow oil to get away from the pickup on fast right hand turns.
