Help! Idiots Guide to LS2 and Vintage Air Setup

I've talked to Vintage Air and the guys that modified my harness and still have no answers! Can someone please help as this is the only thing holding up my build.

In laymen’s terms, how the hell do I connect my Vintage Air (gen IV) to my LS2 computer so that:

The fans turn on when the compressor is engaged

The engine compensates the idle for when the compressor is engaged

The compressor is disengaged at a maximum rpm

The compressor is disengaged at wide open throttle

Basically I would like the system to work like a normal GTO or Corvette set up.

It depends on how the harness is done but their should be a comppressor wire in the ECM harmess that will recognize a signal from the A/C compressor and then the ECM will control the fans, idle up, etc.

This question is best asked of you ECM harness builder.

I can't answer your question, but I bet John Spears at Speartech can.

To do this yourself, you may need the harness pinout diagram. Maybe get one for the GTO, if the harness is stock.....if modified, get it from the harness builder/expert.

Go over to ls1 tech and get the answer. That is if you can run the VA using the pcm. You will have to put the pressure switch that the lsx cars use in your system to run it thru the pcm. As you may know the oem LSX compressors are variable displacement compressors. Honestly I'm not really sure you can run the older style units thru the pcm. There are fittings available from doc's block to install the switch but I thank the VA sytems are controled by a totally different type of switch than the lsx systems. I ran my oem lsx compressor out side the pcm using relays but as you stated this does not give you the safety features as does the pcm method.

alright so i haven't heard back from Speartech yet but i did research and found out my ls2 computer is an e40 and it has 2 pin outs for a serial bus connection to a body computer which would tell the ls2 computer various things, one of them being A/C funtions. So am i basically screwed with this or what?

See the pdf file in this thread: http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/conver...m-drawing.html and http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/conver...using-pcm.html and http://www.stevesnovasite.com/forums...d.php?t=138288 These threads are using the 411 PCM but might give you an idea what to do - I'm pretty sure I have seen in other threads the BCM is not needed but I personally don't know that.
