Hello, I have a 69 Firebird it is a factory air car. The car is stripped for restoration. My question is when I put it back together I want to put A/C back in but not factory. What are my choices? Vintage or Classic auto air?I didn't seem to find any kits anywhere. Thanks!

try giving Frank a call at Prodigy Customs.
EDIT
ah....I see the problem...there are no kits shown for a bird with factory air.

It is all based on the controller. the controller is way different then any other and no one has yet figured out how to convert the controller.
If you willing to run a additional controller we can do it. You could easily hide the additional control

I used Vintage Air and took their 3 knob control panel and mounted it into a modified stock 69 Firebird control plate. It doesn't look too bad. Not good enough for SEMA but not too bad. I think it was worth it to get the Gen 4 VA in my car.
The Camaro mounts work fine in the Firebird. Frank can set you up with the pulleys etc you need for your engine.

I want to make sure I understand what you did:
You got a 69 Camaro complete kit and then instead of using the cable controls you got the 3 knob control panel kit to run the system?
Thanks

Yes, I used the 3 knob control to replace the Camaro controls. You can probably some money over buying the 69 Camaro kit by having Frank put together a custom system with the 3 knob control panel.

I did the same thing as Don. I've got a '69 and V/A actually sent me a '67-8 Camaro kit, all things are the same as the '69 kit except for the controller, which can't be used from either Camaro kit in a Firebird so it must've been a matter of convenience or what was in stock at the time for them.
I used the 3 knob billet controller in black finish. I have a Covan's thunder road dash and he sent me extra plastic that I glued in place to fill the rectangle hole from the original hvac controls, then cut the hole for the new Vintage Air controller to fit in there. Looks clean.
Give Frank a call, he can sort you out.

Oh yeah, that 69 Camaro glove box liner won't fit, you need the 67-68 Camaro glove box liner. I learned that one the hard way too...

I guess I got lucky on that part too...or V/A got smart. There were a couple of boxes in my kit that were specifically for a '69 Camaro including the condensor, and one remaining obstacle is that the #8 hard line for the condensor is bent to go across the bottom front of the rad support to the driver's side for the '69 Camaro which I don't understand the need for. I'm just running soft line all the way to the condensor and drier instead.
Frank put in the order, so they must have a better handle on what a Firebird guy needs now.

V/A said the 69 camaro sure fit Gen IV kit will work with the 69 firebird only thing that is needed is the Pontiac 400 compressor bracket. They also said the streamline 3 knob kit will work. This according to John at ext 120

I think you will get the wrong glove box liner and possibly some hardline that you cannot use if your go this route. I know from experience. They are the experts but I know what I got and what I had left over.
