      Name the seat manufacturer.

Got these seats from a friend of mine, but don't know what they are out off or who made them. Have installed them using the stock bucket sliders, but they sit to high. my head hits the roof of the car (am 6'1"). And am wondering if these are after market, then the manufacturer may have some brackets available for a g body (malibu).

They look like the Recaro Speed S, but I doubt they are the real thing because the logo isn't embroidered on the headrest portion. Also, the crooked shoulder belt strap slot is suspect.

Yes, they look similar. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on the type of mounts I should use to put into the malibu? I have a few wreckers close by. Maybe import sliders could be easily modified? I have mounted them on the stock G body sliders, but they put the seats to high and the mounting locations hinder the slider movement back. Any ideas?

You may be able to trim the brackets down some if they are tall brackets. Im not sure what the slider brackets look like that you are using. But some of them are pretty tall. If they have enough vertical length to them you might be able to section them as much as an inch or more.

But you should be a pretty good welder. The brackets are holding yer butt in during any unforeseen crashes.

Other than that. If the seats are just tall due to the internal framework on the lower section they may be too tall for the car. The pic you posted of the seats looks to show they are not too tall of a seat. The distance from the lower section to the distance where you sit. Looks like about 7-8" from the bottom to the hump in the seat.

To check if the seats themselves, without the sliders are too tall place the seats on the floor pan and take a sit. Thats as low as that seat is ever gonna get. If its too tall then its time for a seat with a lower (thinner) seat pad. But I havent seen any much thinner than about 6". Seats that are still comfortable.

Oh, and for scavenging the yards for sliders. Look for a car that wasnt equipet with alot of power accessories. Like power seats. Those seats tend to have pretty high slider brackets. Look for a car that was bare bones. Thin seat sliders.

Oh, and I would look at the import cars. Alot of them had the seats lower, close to the floor. They tend to get the leg room needed with a longer sliding seat while still keeping the seat close to the floor. Where some cars get the leg room by placing the driver higher up and his legs will be bent as opposed to the cars that have the legs straight but have a longer slide to allow the long legged folks to be able to stretch out. Honda comes to mind. Alot of their seats are on the floor, tight to the floor. But a six foot + guy can stretch out because they have longer sliders, not a taller seat like some of the cars where they get leg room by having the drivers legs bent because he is sitting higher.. Ended up sectioning the stock mounting brackets 1 1/2" and adapting them to some hundai seat sliders (got them from a 4 door btw). Got lucky that the gm buckets and these seats have the same mounting locations width wise. So the brackets line up perfectly, score! Didn't have my camera during the work, snapped these today.

There is no way in this world they are Recaros. Look how crooked the belt housing is in the seat.

Quality pieces for sure! Still don't know who makes these seats?!? Recaros......I wish. Did find some Asian writing on the plastic side guards. Plus you can't go wrong with free (gift).
