how and why would you eliminate the MAF from an 02 LS1? technical answers appreciated

Actually I have yet to see a properly set up engine ever require removal of a MAF if PCM is properly tuned to accept the information and use it properly, also note that the system works better if it uses heated O2 sensors in both pipes to maintain proper A/F ratio.
