      Alternator

I have a 67 Camaro and it has an internal reg alt, but it still has the external reg on the firewall. This morning my alt went out so I replaced it, but now I don't get battery voltage on my gauge when I turn the on. I get charging voltage, but not battery voltage. I just read an article on how to do the wiring to go from ext to int. Right now I get 14.5 volts of the pos terminal on the alternator and there is no blue wire going to the #1 terminal. I have the positive wire and then the jumper wire from the positive stud to the #2 position, but nothing is going to the #1 terminal and I still get 14.5 volts from the alternator at idle. At the ext reg, I took the blue wire and brown wire from the reg plug and spliced them together and the orange and white are capped off. My dilema is:

      1. Why am I getting 14.5 volts from the alt w/o a wire going to the #1 terminal of the regulator

      2. I can't seem to get voltage with the key on at the gauge

      3. I only have battery voltage at the junction block, the battery and the buss bar

This morning before the alt went out, everything was operating PERFECTLY!!!

I now know the #1 terminal wire is for the Gen light in the dash. I know I don't need it with a gauge, but I want it. Before I did the new wiring this wire was connected to the brown wire from the ext reg pigtail. They pulled the brown wire out and extended it to the passenger side and plugged it to the alternator #1 terminal. I have since connected the blue wire from the reg pigtail and the brown wire from the reg pigtail leaving the #1 terminal wire disconnected. Can this wire be spliced in the new connection I made with the blue and brown wires from the ext reg pigtail?

I have 14.7 at the gauge wire, 14.7 at the pos stud on alt, 12.4 at the junction block, pos batt terminal and the buss bar. Why???

I also have a new horn relay/buss bar.

Check the fuseable links near the horn relay, sounds like one is bad, there is one that runs from buss bar on horn relay to the radiator support terminal in front of the battery.
67 Camaro RS that will be faster than anything Mary owns.

I got it. The feed wire from the main harness had separated. All is good now. Thanks.
