Rebuild 200-4r or rebuild 4l60e for LSx 5.3?

I'm doing an LSx swap in an 80 Malibu and have to decide what I'm going to do about a trans. I want to run a t-56, but budget won't allow. I've got a 200-4r out of a pontiac station wagon sitting here on the floor that needs new seals all through it. So, my dilemma is, do I rebuild the 200 or find a core 4l60e and rebuild it? The 5.3 is bone stock.

I'm trying to keep the build for the car as cheap as possible to show it can be done. I'm currently under a grand and all I've really got left to buy is the trans stuff and all the little odds and ends that come along with a swap that you forget about.

4L60E for sure, unless you're ditching the ECU and running a carb.

even then, the fine tuning capability of the 60e make it the better choice.

Do you still believe in all the things that you stood by before? Are you out there on the front lines, or at home keeping score?

Agreed, but I was thinking cost. If he's not running the ECU, he'll need a seperate controller plus getting a 4L60E (when he already has a 2004R).

I'm running the stock PCM/wire harness from the truck. So, 4l60e it is then.
