@001 Silverado Transmission swap Help!
Ok I have had to push my 67 firebird project to the side as my daily driver a 2001 silverado 1500 4x4 shed some parts of the sunwell. The trans is a 4l60e and I found a freshly rebuilt one on craigslist that came out of a 98 Tahoe 4x4. Turns out the guy had his trans rebuilt (showed me the receipt) and the Tahoe was totaled two weeks later. He had lots of stereo equipment and some expensive wheels so he bought it from the insurance co. Now he is parting it out. I struck a deal on it, gave him $100 to hold it and I am supposed to pick it up at 7am tomorrow cause I cant get anymore cash out of the ATM. I was jsut told that this may not work in my silverado due to different computer settings. I dont know where to turn for answers and I get good advice here so will it work? Should I try and cancel the deal? I gotta get my truck back on the road cause my wifes car is in the shop right now and they can't figure out whats wrong with it.

The 98 had a Gen I SBC for an engine, your 01 has a Gen III. The two transmissions will physically interchange minus one bellhousing bolt. There are differences in the internals, but IIRC the plugs are the same. IF the plugs are the same color and same pin config( look closely, there will be some empty pins) it will probably work. The converters are different, you will need the converter from your 01.

No, the flexplates are specific to each engine to space the converer correctly.
