Here is a little info on my car, enjoy! Let me know what you think.
Bought my 66 fastback when I was 15, it was my first car believe it or not. Nightmist blue 66 fastback 2+2. The original 289 was long gone when I got it. It had a 1970 302 2bbl in it when I got it and it didn’t last that long afterwards because the oil pump failed.
Then

Now
This is the most current picture I have of the engine bay.

Replaced the edelbrock with a Holley 650 double pumper. 10-12mpg!

added Raydot mirrors recently too

I recently finished up the Shelby drop, installed high performance coil springs and the Shelby quick steer kit. With the new springs and the drop itself, the car handles so much better. Really happy with the stance. Before I left to go back to college, the front seems to have settled at a good 2" drop.

Sorry, dirty car.
Need your input. I'm want to put a 9" rear in the car and while I do that I want to redo the rear suspension. I'm leaning towards installing a Heidts 4 link. I already have the 3rd member with a 3.5 ratio, so besides that I think I might get everything from them. Thoughts on this setup?

Great pics, If you are looking for rear suspensions I would talk to Frank at Prodigy he is on this site and has alot of options. He tells me he does Ford stuff too, so now we will see. Honestly he helps alot5 of people on this site and is a good guy.

if you're going to put big meaty tires, then i've heard the 3-link rear suspension is best for corner carving.
i have the Cobra Auto stage 3 setup out back with torsion bars. i didn't have the time to do a mini-tub.

I am working on a 66 fastback now just installed heidts 4 link was very easy to do the parts were first class. cant wait to drive it. still have to finish driveline (turbo charged 302 with a 5 speed) should be a handful.

very cool set up. I would look to TCP and their 4-link. It seems better than heidts.

You should look into GMR.

We are a TCP dealer and can weld on all the mounts for their kit to our housing. so.... TCP kit with GMR housing/ hub setup.

Very cool car. My first car was '66 coupe.
BTW, the pictured carb is not a double pumper, it is a vacuum secondary.

actually checkout www.ridetech.com and think of this,,,,just get the suspension, delete the air parts if you dont want or cant aford it and now Ridetech sells coil overs too! and they have great shocks ,so dont over look this company.

Definitely would go with TCP over Heidts. I have always felt that Heidts is more geared towards the form over function crowd.

When you get a 9" make sure you get one for an early Mustang because the 67 and up are wider.

i always thought the ride tech 4-link was the same as the TCP g-link. they look very close if not the same!

Don't quote me on this, but I believe they were developed as a group venture so to speak. The ride tech 4 link is essentially a G-bar/link with air ride...

Got to come home from college for Easter. Really didnt get to do any work to the car besides clean it up and put a bunch of miles on it. A buddy of mine is a photographer and has been wanting to take some pictures of my car for awhile so we got to do that while I was home.
Still putting together an attack plan on 9" swap and new suspension for this summer.

Great looking car, man. I definitely recommend the TCP over the Heidts. The Heidts system is a parallel, unequal length four link. This is really suited to drag racing. The TCP is a triangulated four link and will allow the rear end to articulate much further before encountering any bind. Plus, as it's triangulated it's self locating and doesn't require the use of a Panhard bar.
And to address the discussion about Ride Tech and TCP being the same, they were originally the same. TCP was running the AirRide AirBar with coilovers, which was no secret. The newer, two year old version is vastly improved and very beefy with all the adjustment you could want for a street and occasional track car.

Well its been awhile so here is whats changed.
I finished the 9" swap and I couldn't be happier. Unfortunately I don't have an "before-after, in progress" pictures on this computer so these will have to do

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2011/03/2e5i4p4-1.jpg
-'57 Ford 9" axle housing
- 28 spline axles
- Eaton truetrac posi unit
- 3.50 gears
- '67 Ford center section casing
- Disc brake conversion from getdiscbrakes.com
- all new brake lines, breather, hardline etc.
- new gas shocks
- new leaf spring shackle
- Majer racing 5 leaf, mid eye, 1" drop leaf springs
- 65-66 Traction Master Shelby 3/4" rear sway bar
- cobra automotive spring plates
- cobra automotive 3" u-bolts
- Custom made 3" diameter drive shaft by Hartman Drive Shaft of Reading Pa
- modified Traction Master 66 Shelby under ride traction bars to work with the 57 housing because those use a 3" axle tube.
The motor was running a bit hotter with the new 9" and gears so I upgraded the cooling system a little.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2011/03/15znrdh-1.jpg
- 3 core Aluminum Griffin radiator. Rated to 600hp
- custom made fan shroud
- K&N air filter
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2011/03/2lszbc5-1.jpg
Better picture of my fan shroud I came up with.
New retro racing seat belts. Ray Brown/ AC cobra repros. They're sweet, all cars should have seat belts like these!

Not much to report, but I did a few things to the stang while on break from college. Was able to get my signed glove box door and the new valve covers installed. They are the S/T valve covers from Cobra Valley, I was having some issues with the height of my roller rockers.

Once again its been awhile since I've posted or updated this. Since then a lot has happened for me personally. I graduated college, got married and bought a house and so the car has been on the back burner. I've made a couple changes to the car but nothing much. Mainly just been enjoying the car and putting some miles on it.
Starting the project back up again and I've got some new plans for the car. I can't say that the updates will come frequently but I'll post when I can. This has never been a big budget car so hopefully some will find it interesting.
Here are some pictures to bring the thread up to date.

And this is what brought around me working on the car again. My father had the car snap on him and he smacked a curb pretty good.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2016/04/a1s64p-1.jpg
What you see above plus two rims and my oil pan. Could of been a lot worse, thankful it wasn't. Mostly hurt pride more than anything else.

Since I need to replace the nose I'm going to do the GT350 valance. I'm also going to replace both fenders as well. The ones on the car now are full of bondo. I'd like to strip the bottom of the car, inner fenders and repaint it all with a good underbody paint/rust preventer. Any good suggestions? I've also purchased Detroit speed sub frame connectors and torque boxes so I'll install them while I'm at it.
