I'm not abandoning the '69 Camaro.
I just couldn't pass up the deal on the Z06.
The car drives awesome !!
Now I know what to shoot for when modifying the Camaro..
The C6 Z06 seems to be the benchmark that everyone looks for when modifying the older musclecars..
So , I had to have one .
Here's me and the babies.
Forgive my clothes , I was cleaning the garage ..

Wow Jeff, can't hide that money.....LOL, j/k...nice car. Does the camaro handle like that new addition?

Jeff you lucky dog!!:1st: At least try to whipe that smile off your face!!!
Now tell us how it runs when you mash the go pedal!!!

The Camaro does NOT handle like the Z06 ! LOL ! ( Not yet anyway )
It's funny , my wife keeps quoting a scene in "Herbie The Love Bug" where Herbie's owner( Jim Douglas ) buys a new sports car , and Herbie smashes it to bits while Jim is inside his house.
The Camaro has an alarm , and the first time I pulled the Z06 into the garage next to the Camaro , the Camaro started raising hell.. alarm blaring , siren blaring ...
My wife said " See , I told you , He's jealous . "
The Z06 is so much faster than the Camaro. ( For now )
The Camaro only has a 300hp smallblock.
The Vette will spin the tires in every gear up to 130 mph..
It's brutal .
Scary .
I gotta' get used to it.
It has enough speed to really hurt innocent bystanders , or pedestrians if I ever lost control on the public streets.
Now , on a racetrack , things would be different ..
I'm not scared on a closed course racetrack..

That's one hell of a ride you've picked up Jeff!! I was lured into thinking you got a motor for the Camaro from the title!
Hopefully you won't be deterred on fixing up the Camaro, both cars are awesome in their own right!

That was my joke .....
I'm still gonna' fix up the Camaro.
I now have a base-line to compare it to ..
The Z06 was originally purchased ( new ) at the dealership I work at.
I've known the previous owner and the cars history for the last 2 1/2 years.
It's been maintained , but driven hard ..
The previous owner just wanted to sell it and move on.
He put 52,000 miles on it so far.And it has a little wear and tear on the seat upholstery.
He had his fun with it.
But , he could not get a " Corvette Person" to give him a good price for the car , because of the mileage.
So , he contacted me about buying it.
And here I am . With it..

So you get a raise and tell me you have to wait to fix up the Camaro and then you buy a Z06? HMMMMM.
Your wife is right, that Camaro is going to be jealous for a long time until it gets parts to feel loved like the Z06,lol.
I'm glad you are doing well and your right foot is in happy land.
I don't think my Vibe will keep up with the Z06 but I'm bringing the Cormaro next time,LOL.
Take care and be safe.

The Camaro is going to be a long project , once I get going on it.
That's why I've procrastinated as long as I have.
This Z06 is gonna' be my driver while the Camaro is being done..
The Z06 is an excellent , comfortable , fast , daily driver..
It gets pretty good gas mileage too..
Plus , I got an excellent ( cheap) deal on this car ....

Congrats! LOVE the Z06!
Go with Melrose headers or Kook's. You can keep the factory mufflers if you'd like. For air intake, Callaway Honker is a solid piece. I did the Melrose headers and Honker intake along with a tune(required if you want to see any gains) to an 07 and it put down nearly 480 to the wheels. Torque I can't remember. Ridiculously fast. Pulls like a freight train through all gears.
The way the LS7 pulls makes me wonder if I'll be happy with a turbo on my engine. I'm afraid I'll need displacement

Nice Jeff! Just watch out for the run-flats on a road coarse. They give no warning before letting go. It's a bit un-nerving.
Driving the Z06 is quite different than the Camaro. When you turn the Z06 steering wheel, the car actually turns!

Congrats Jeff!! Awesome car! :1st:
I agree with Carl about the run-flats... One of my buddies has a C6 Z06 and he swapped from the run-flat Goodyears to the Michelin PS2's and he said it's "night and day" difference on the road course... he also stepped up the rear tire size from the Z06 325-series to the Viper 345-series size... and they fit fine within the wheel well...

It's got 345 wide PS2's on the rear now , but some no-name 275's on the front.. The seller just put something cheap on it to sell it..
I was considering Nitto 's , for replacements..
I'm gonna' get some miles out of what's on it first..
I'll get a good matched set of tires before it sees a track..

The only real problem I have with all of you guys getting Corvettes is that I want one !!
I look forward to seeing you at the events no matter what car you bring, although I'm not sure if I should let you in front of me or behind me at the track now, that Z06 could beat me standing still, lol.
So what color are you going to dream of painting the Camaro now that you might want to have matching colored cars?
The nice thing is that you won't have to look far for tires to mock up the suspension on the 69.
I can hardly wait to see it in person and see you having fun with it.

don't start doing power mods... HP is not issue with that car. If anything I would do a custom ECM tune, but that's it
Buy shocks - The Z06 is known for being twitchy and a set of good shocks is gonna help you tune it out

You've got a good point.
I can't really handle the power it's got .( Like on a curvy road )
It's got more power than I can use already..
I'm gonna' concentrate on improving my driving skills FIRST ...
When I get to where I can really push the car to it's max , I'll worry about more power...
I'm more concerned with the handling and my driving...

I can see you driving your Camaro harder and with more confidence in your future once you get the Z06 under control at speed. You will be putting your foot thru the floor trying to get more out of the Camaro and braking way deeper than you used to. All around things will just plain make you a more confident driver.
I can't wait to see you if you make it up to Road America, I want a ride in what ever you bring but that Z06 would be a real hoot!
Get some practice and stay safe.
