      Need Opinions...

ok..I have been researching rims for quite some time now...and I need your opinions on these measurements I found for my monte carlo ss rear wheel....

I have on there now the 255/50/16 on a 16x8 rim. I found this site... http://home.earthlink.net/~bzdel/TireWheel.htm which says that I can get a 275/40/17 on there with lil modifications. I was playing around with this site http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCal...?action=submit and found out that I could also fit 275/40/18's on there as they had the same section width as the 17" tire...

but....in the monte carlo wheel measurement site...it says that the max section width can only be 10 5/8" or 10.625.....but on the tire calculator page...it says that the section width of these tires is 10.82...

      what do you all think?

im thinking even if the 10.82 section width wont fit...I could roll the fender lip, instead of trimming off the 1/8", and that would give me the added clearence needed to fit that tire under there.
